2024-06-12
According to statistics from the National Immigration Administration (NIA), the border inspection authorities across China provided exit-entry services for a total of 5.752 million Chinese and foreign travelers during this year's Dragon Boat Festival holiday. The average daily number of travelers during the holiday reached 1.917 million, reflecting a 45.1-percent growth compared with the same period in 2023. The highest daily exit-entry traveler volume was recorded on June 8, reaching 1.976 million. Notably, the number of the exit-entry travelers from the Chinese mainland rose to 2.466 million, reflecting a 25.4-percent increase year-on-year, while that of Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan exit-entry travelers reached 2.779 million, indicating a 66.1-percent increase compared with the same period in 2023. Meanwhile, a total of 507,000 foreign nationals entered and exited the Chinese mainland, marking a 57-percent increase over the last year's data. In addition, the immigration administration authorities nationwide inspected a total of 238,000 vehicles (including planes, trains, ships, and motor vehicles), marking a year-on-year growth by 35.2 percent.
Under the unified arrangement of NIA, the border inspection authorities across China rigorously implemented the "Two Announcements and One Reminder" policy (i.e. announcements of the information on the predicted passenger flow and plans of queuing, and reminders of traffic safety). Specifically, the information on the passenger flow predicted on scientific grounds was released in time to help Chinese and foreign exit-entry travelers make proper travel plans. To ensure that the time each Chinese citizen would spend queuing for entry or exit would be within 30 minutes, the border inspection authorities opened adequate inspection channels and deployed enough staff. Furthermore, the border inspection authorities enhanced collaboration with other relevant authorities to adeptly deal with the challenges caused by intense rain and severe convection weather, ensuring the timely and efficient dispersal of high volumes of travelers. During the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, the ports across China provided exit-entry services that were secure, efficient, and smooth.
